Ukhrul ADC deploys youths to aid traffic police

Ukhrul, December 15 2021:
Small Town Committee (STC) under the aegis of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council in collaboration with Kachir Trust deployed at least 20 youth volunteers to assist Ukhrul traffic police for effective implementation and better management of traffic in Ukhrul town areas during the festive season.
Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, caretaker chairman of Ukhrul ADC flagged off the traffic volunteers in the presence of district traffic police officer Barnabas, Chihanshing Chamroy OSD STC, Ukhrul, staff and well wishers at ADC Office Complex Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yaronsho stated that due to the rapid increase of vehicles in Ukhrul town and random parking of private cars on the roadside has caused massive traffic congestion in the market areas.

He mentioned that STC, Ukhrul in consultation with district police and others engaged a team of volunteers from Kachir Trust, Ukhrul to help in parking of vehicles in Ukhrul town.
The traffic volunteers would identify space for parking to ease traffic congestion and avert road accidents, he added.
The caretaker chairman also stated that parking fees will be charged and the same amount would be utilized to cover the expenditures incurred by traffic volunteers.
Dr Yaronsho further appealed to the people of Ukhrul district to co-operate and abide by the new traffic rules introduced in the town for the safety of all.
