Warehouses raided, E-way bills checked

Taxation Department on Wednesday raided warehouses in Churachandpur and checked E-way bills along the National Highway No 39 .
In a statement, Department of Taxes informed that its Enforcement Team raided warehouses of M/S Amrit Traders arid M/S Leima Traders (New Bazar Bus Parking); M/S Budel Store, New Lamka; and M/S Subhash Variety Store, Zion Street, New Bazar.
The raids were conducted to check stocking of goods and freebies related to distribution in the ensuing Assembly Election.
During the raids, grocery and beverage items amounting to Rs 10.33 crore were detected, it added.
It informed that the department has taken up necessary action to verify the documents and records and had served notices to all the dealers under Manipur Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the rules made thereunder.
On the other hand, flying squad team of the department also checked vehicular movement on NH 39 on Wednesday.
The team checked 27 vehicles and verified E-way bills and other documents for goods worth approximately Rs 31.27 lakh.
The statement further conveyed that the department has been continuously conducting raids in godowns/warehouses, checking movement of goods vehicles on the national highways to ensure conduct of free and fair election in the state.
