NSUI calls BJP era dark phase for students

The five-year term of the BJP government has been the darkest phase of the students in the state, National Students' Union of India (NSUI) national president Neeraj Kundan has stated.
Addressing a press meet organised by NSUI Manipur at Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday, Neeraj said that IIT was set up in Manipur during Congress' rule and 13 colleges were absorbed/upgraded by the then government.
Female literacy rose to 11 per cent from 2001 to 2011 .
However, the educational sector entered a dark phase after BJP took power in the state, he alleged, and claimed that the union government cancelled the fund for pre-matric scholarship.
At present, only 3 out of 21 Eklayya Residential Schools are in operation.
The enrolment rate in government schools has dropped from 1.1 per cent to 15.5 percent, while the education minister has been forging his education qualification, he remarked.
Furthermore, the government failed to provide any assistance to students during the Covid-19 pandemic, he maintained and urged the student community to take a proactive role in removing BJP from the state.
NSUI Manipur president Kabir Ahamed, who also attended the press meet, informed that a huge campaign along with Congress would be carried out to save the students from the BJP government in the state.
