Imphal, April 19 2023:
Protesting against the conviction of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and his subsequent disqualification as Lok Sabha MP, City District Congress Committee organised District Level Jai Bharat Satyagarha Sabha at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, here, on Wednesday.
The event was attended by MPCC senior vice president Vidyapati Senjam, MPCC general secretary M Ranjit Singh, secretaries L Chandrakumar Singh, N Jayentakumar and S Johny Meitei, and other Congress leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Vidyapati Senjam pointed out that the Jai Bharat Satyagarha Sabha is being organised by the Congress party to save the country as there is no rule of law and people are barred from making any statement against the ruling government.
It is very unfortunate that a lower court has convicted Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case over his 2019 remark about the surname Modi and sentenced him to two years in prison, he said while adding that the agitation launched by the Congress is not for saving any member of the Congress but for the truth.
