Imphal, April 19 2023:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), United Rehabilitation Centre (URC) and Department of Psychiatry, RIMS jointly organised a one-day training programme of private rehabilitation centres' staff on Dos & Don'ts of Addiction Management at Dr Kamal Hall, Department of Psychiatry RIMS on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang.
Department of Psychiatry's Dr Gojen and Dr Lenin, and URC president Pushpakanta as presidium members.
In his speech, Ph Nando Luwang said that as more young people fall under the influence of drugs, the importance of rehabilitation centres is increasing exponentially.
As such, many private rehabilitation centres have been set up in the state.
However, there is the need to properly train the staff, for which reason the programme has been organised.
He continued that the human life has two paths- living while dying, and dying while living.
Good deeds live on as legacy for those dying while living like that of Paona Brajabashi, but for living while dying include those wasting away their life under the influence of drugs and alcohol and indulging in wrongful activities.
Stressing the need for empathy and support towards drug addicts to help them return to the mainstream society, Nando said that any failure in doing so will decide the existence of the indigenous population.
We need to stand firm against drug menace, while at the same time assisting drug addicts to get help through rehabilitation centres, in addition to providing them a sense of comfort, security and guidance, he stated, while urging the staff of rehabilitation centres to take on their responsibility with utmost sincerely.
