Chief minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday inaugurated a two-week Free Children Heart Surgery Camp and honoured the team from William Novick Global Cardiac Alliance (NCA), USA by declaring them as state guests.
The free children heart surgery camp is being organised by Sky Hospital & Research Centre Pvt Ltd in association with William Novick Global Cardiac Alliance (NCA), USA and Manipur Heart Foundation.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function held at Classic Grande, here, CM N Biren expressed that as the team is doing so much for the state's children by conducting the operations free of cost, we should also reciprocate and do something for them.
He further lauded the team's sense of humanity, service, dedication and conviction.
The CM also accorded a warm welcome to the team from the USA and stated that they have come down all the way to the tiny state of Manipur for service to humanity.
There is no religion greater than the service to humanity and the needy, he further mentioned, while acknowledging and lauding the team for their service.
Appreciating Sky Hospital chairman and chief cardiologist Dr L Shy-amkishore Singh for all his efforts, N Biren also conveyed that he has been doing his bit for the poor through the Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) scheme and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
The CM also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts for improvement in the health sector and spoke of schemes like PM-JAY and CMHT.
N Biren observed that doctor is a profession where one cannot say sorry.
Doctors are next to God, he said, adding that their treatments save lives while even a small error on their part could cost lives.
Urging everyone to imbibe the mind-set of helping the needy and the poor, the CM highlighted that all of his government's schemes mainly focus on providing service to the poor, old and weaker section.
N Biren also announced that the state will hold a cultural programme to honour the team from William Novick Global Cardiac Alliance (NCA), USA and later presented gifts to the visiting medical team.
It can be mentioned that during the Camp which began from April 16 and will continue till April 30, the 16-member US medical team led by a cardiac surgeon will perform heart surgeries on 25 children.
In his address, Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh described as a great day for Manipur that a 14-day Free Children Heart Surgery Camp is being held in the state.
He thanked the team from the USA and said the state has been trying to detect pre natal cardiac problems.
"We are glad that such a big team from the USA is in the state to provide their services," he added.
The inaugural function was also attended by NCA, senior paediatric surgeon Dr Vitaly Dedovich and his team, additional chief secretary Vumlunmang and Sky Hospital chairman Dr L Shyamkishore Singh, among others.
