District level consultation on "Sustainable Development Goals 2030" held

Thoubal, February 11 2023:
National Foundation for India, New Delhi yesterday organised a 1-day district level consultation of "Sustainable Development Goals 2030" at Wangbal in Thoubal district.
The programme was hosted by Integrated Rural Development Service Organisation (IRDSO), Wangjing, Thoubal district.
The inaugural session was attended by Khangabok AC MLA, Okram Surjakumar; Utpala Chakama, representative of National Foundation for India, New Delhi; Manipur State Commission for Women chairperson, Salam Ulka; and Human Rights Alert Imphal executive director, Babloo Loitongbam as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Okram Surjakumar stressed on the importance of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and added that it is essential for everyone to understand the sustainable goals.
IRDSO chief functionary and NFI Field Office Thoubal, FC, Nonibala Narengbam elaborated on the scientific advancements made by human beings over the years.
She continued that in September 2015 at United Nations HQ New York, about 150 leaders adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 interlinked objectives designed to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
She mentioned that the onus is on the present generation to protect the planet for the future generation.
Pointing out that India ranks 135 out of 146 in Global Gender Gap Index, Nonibala said, "In this trend, India will take about 132 years to reach gender parity".
In the technical session, Babloo Loitongbam; SCPS Programme Officer, Mala Lisham; CMO Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul; and Thoubal Municipal Council, EO, H Pradeepkumar spoke on various topics as resource persons.
The consultation was also attended by club members, women leaders, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, representatives of Community Based Organisations, Police personnel, PLVs, officials of the Social Welfare department and members of DCPU.
