RPF chief Chaoren no more, CorCom condoles

While informing that its president Irengbam Chaoren passed away on Friday, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has deeply condoled the sudden demise of the revolutionary leader who guided the outfit since 1990.According to an RPF statement issued by its deputy secretary of publicity Roben Khuman, Chaoren passed away around 10.30 am Friday due to terminal brain tumour.
Chaoren was not only the president of RPF since 1990 but also convener of the conglomerate underground groups, Coordination Committee (CorCom).
The statement further said that RPF and its armed wing PLA will mourn the demise of president Chaoren from February 10 to 24 during which the outfit's flag will be flown at half-mast at all its institutions and armed units.
Meanwhile, the proscribed Coordination Committee (CorCom) has extended revolutionary salute and deeply mourned the demise of its convener and RPF president Irengbam Chaoren.
In a condolence note issued by its publicity committee, CorCom said that Irengbam Chaoren alias Bhorot was a revolutionary leader who worked significantly for a long time to regain the lost sovereignty of Manipur and WESEA region snatched by India.
It said that CorCom leaders, functionaries, armed wing leaders, officers, NCOs and cadres deeply condoled the demise of Irengbam Chaoren.
According to CorCom, Irengbam Chaoren was born on the 10th day of Hiyanggei (November 2) month of Meetei calendar in 1957 to late Irengbam Ibomcha and Tongbram Ningol Irengbam Ongbi Jamuna of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai, Imphal as eldest among three male siblings.
The CorCom statement further said that Irengbam Chaoren was a visionary revolutionary leader who firmly believed in waging a united movement for restoration of the lost sovereignty of Manipur and WESEA region from early time.
Accordingly, he was a signatory member to the conglomerate of revolutionary groups named Manipur People's Liberation Front (MPLF) formed in 1990.He was also the first convener of the Coordination Committee formed by like-minded revolutionary groups in 2011 and held the same post till his last breath, it said, adding that Chaoren was a noble, visionary, committed and disciplined revolutionary leader.
Chaoren's demise is not only a great loss for RPF and other revolutionary groups of Manipur and WESEA region but the void left by his passing away would remain forever, CorCom said and shared pain and grief of Chaoren's bereaved family.
