Kapaam village, Kapaam Baptist Church celebrate platinum jubilee

The platinum jubilee celebration of Kapaam village and Kapaam Baptist Church was held today at the village in Chandel district.
The main highlight of the platinum jubilee celebration held on the theme 'Proclaiming God's Faithfulness' was the conduct of traditional and ritual ceremonies.
Presentation of songs by choir groups of different churches, preaching and scripture reading sessions were also held during the celebration.
A history book was released in connection with the programme.
Addressing the occasion, Kapaam Village Authority Chairman, Borpha Serbum spoke about the history and existence of the village.
He said in February 2, 1948 this village of Moyon community came into existence under the name 'Komlathabi' christened by the then King Bodhachandra.
In the same year, Komlathabi Baptist Church was also established, he added.
He went on to state that later the name of the village was renamed to Kapaam and today's celebration is held to commemorate the same.
The Chairman further informed that the village is now home to 1000 residents with around 225 households which came into existence with just seven households.
Lastly he shared the message of love and peaceful co-existence to the surrounding villages.
