Moreh, February 11 2023:
As one out of the only two regular linemen posted at Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Moreh Division would be retiring next month, the denizens of border town have urged the state government to take note of this matter at the earliest.
According to the locals, many parts of Moreh have been deprived of potable water for many years as the PHED did not lay new water pipelines.
However, after Letpao Haokip was elected from Tengnoupal AC, most of the areas now have access to safe tap water in addition to acceleration of other development works in the border town.
Water reservoir tanks have been constructed at Moreh Ward no 1 and 9 and another at Ward no.8 near the helipad.
The tank at Moreh Ward no 1 has a capacity of 6.75 lakh litres, Moreh Ward no 9 has 11.3 lakh litres and that at Ward no 8 helipad has 6.75 lakh litres capacity.
Altogether 24.53 lakh litres of water are being supplied to around 900 consumers of Moreh town.
Although there is an AE and SO posted at PHED Moreh, who are trying their level best to provide water connection to the people of Moreh Town, there is severe shortage of regular linemen.
As such imminent retirement of one out of two will only compound the problem, the local pointed out while urging the government authorities to process for posting adequate number of regular staff to ensure regular supply of safe tap water in Moreh town.
