Ukhrul, February 11 2023:
Condemning the immature TNL Administrative order, Soraphung Village Council (SVC) has declared non co-operation to the incumbent TNL president, David K'Shimray with immediate effect.
Speaking to media persons, SVC chairman, Meliba Lasuh expressed strong displeasure against the TNL president for issuing the Administrative Order to allegedly destabilize the smooth functions of village council without verifying the ground situation of the village.
"The hereditary headman Yaruingam Lasuh was replaced in 2018 for alleged violation of the Naga customary law.
The headman had a criminal record, and was released on anticipatory bail", he added.
He continued that Soraphung Village Assembly resolved to constitute the SVC to look into the affairs of the village.
"However, David K' Shimray, without respecting the Soraphung Assembly resolution, issued a separate directive ordering the dissolution of the Instituted Soraphung Village Council.
The order also directed to withdraw the Court case, which is in process at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Ukhrul Civil Misc (c) No 38 of 2019", he asserted.
"TNL Riyan Article-67(II) of Chairmanship, the articles recognizes the institution of the Chairmanship, if it is accepted by the concerned villagers, however, the TNL president attempt to terminate the constituted Soraphung village Council without any basis is demeaning TNL Riyan and is an arbitrary abuse of power vested upon the TNL president", he alleged.
It may be mentioned that villagers of Soraphung convened an assembly on January 23/2023, and unanimously adopted a resolution to declare non co-operation to David K' Shimray for depriving village resolution and interfering in the matter of the village.
