National Lok Adalat conducted across state

Imphal, February 11 2023:
As per the calendar event of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities organised the first National Lok Adalat for 2023 at various places across the state on Saturday.
National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West district was jointly organised by MSLSA in association with Imphal East & Imphal West DSLA at Lamphel Court Complex.
Similarly, National Lok Adalat was held in Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong and Jiribam districts as well as at the High Court of Manipur.
The Adalat held at Chandel district headquarters was presided over by DLSA Chandel secretary Kimneingah Kipgen as chairperson and advocates Kh Jacky Lucy and JS Chamdil Anal as members.
A total of 56 bank recovery cases and one pre-litigation case were listed out of which seven bank recovery cases and a pre-litigation case were taken up in the said National Lok Adalat.
The High Court Legal Services Committee also organised National Lok Adalat at High Court of Manipur complex in which a bench comprising High Court of Manipur registrar general Gaiphulshillu Golmei as chairperson, Manipur Judicial Academy joint director K Brajakumar Sharma and Registrar (Judicial) and High Court of Manipur Yumkham Rother as members settled various cases.
For the state of Manipur, a total of 430 cases including both pre-litigation and pending court cases related to bank recovery, BSNL bill, matrimonial, criminal compoundable, civil, Motor Accident Claims, NI Act cases, etc., were taken up, out of which 338 cases including 21 cases pending in the courts were settled.
The total settled amount in Saturday's National Lok Adalat was Rs 3,23,46,030 and the rate of settlement was 78.60 pc as compared to 66,85 pc recorded in the last National Lok Adalat held in November 2022 .
