Kapaam village, Church celebrate platinum jubilee

Kapaam village and Kapaam Baptist Church celebrated platinum jubilee at the village ground in Chandel district on Saturday.
Along with hoisting of the flag by the oldest man alive of the village namely Beshop Ngoruw, unveiling of monuments with invocation prayer marked the inaugural ceremony of the celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Kapaam village chief Serbum Borpha extended gratitude to Lima Ching and Khunapan villages for allowing Moyon tribe to establish Kapaam village in 1948.While recounting that the village was established with just seven households considering the advantage of educational facilities, he said Kapaam presently has a total of 225 households with a population of over 1,000 people.
Hailing the Almighty for making the village a peaceful and harmonious one since the last 75 years, the chief called for unity, peace and harmony among all the indigenous groups for marching towards a progressive society.
The celebration also witnessed presentation of various cultural events by the villagers,' besides releasing a history book written by Shanuw R Florence.
Presentation of hymn and invocation prayers was also conducted as a part of the celebration.
The celebration was attended by various village leaders and church leaders from surrounding villages.
