RPF president Irengbam Chaoren expires, CorCom condoles

The Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) President Irengbam Chaoren breathed his last at 10.30 am of February 10 after battling against terminal brain tumour.
A statement issued by RPF Deputy Secretary, Publicity Roben Khuman said that Irengbam Chaoren was a beloved leader of the party who assumed the charge of party president since 1990 .
Irengbam Chaoren also served as the Convenor of the CorCom, informed the statement.
The RPF would mourn the death of its leader Irengbam Chaoren from February 10 to 24.During this period, the party's flag would be flown at half-mast at all the offices and units of the party in honour of the late President, it conveyed.

Meanwhile, the CorCom has condoled the demise of Irengbam Chaoren who served as the President of Revolutionary People's Front for a very long time.
A statement issued by the CorCom Publicity Committee said that Irengbam Chaoren alias Bhorot was a distinguished revolutionary leader who took pivotal roles in the people's movement to restore indepen- dence and sovereignty of Manipur and WESEA region.
CorCom leaders, functionaries, military leaders, officers, NCOs and all combatants have paid highest respect to the departed revolutionary leader, it said.
Irengbam Chaoren alias Bhorot was born to late Irengbam Ibomcha and Tongbram (Ningol) Jamuna on November 2, 1957 at Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai.
Irengbam Chaoren alias Bhorot was the eldest of three brothers.
He served as the President of Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) since 1990 till his last breath.
Since the early days, Irengbam Chaoren firmly believed in a united liberation movement of Manipur and WESEA, the CorCom said.
He was one of the signatories of the Manipur People's Liberation Front (MPLF) formed in 1999 .
Chaoren was also the first convenor of the Coordination Committee (CorCom) which was set up in 2011 towards unification of all the like-minded revolutionary groups of Manipur.
Chaoren served as the CorCom Convenor for the second time from 2017 till his death, according to the statement.
Irengbam Chaoren was a revolutionary leader of the highest integrity.
Although he embodied lofty ideals, he led a very humble life, the CorCom remarked.
The late revolutionary leader was a man of strong determination and highest discipline.
He was always cheerful, composed and never lost his temper.
He always treated all revolutionary cadres with love and care, the CorCom said.
The demise of Irengbam Chaoren is a big loss not only for RPF and Manipur but also for the entire WESEA region, it said.
It conveyed that CorCom leaders, members, JMC military leaders and all revolutionary cadres shared the pain and grief being endured by the party and bereaved family.
It also prayed that the death of Irengbam Chaoren may reinvigorate the revolutionary movement.
