FDA backs JAC on TRI Manipur

Terming it as justifiable, Forest Dwellers' Association (FDA) has announced support to the charter of demands made by the Joint Action Committee on the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur and its functioning formed by 12 tribal CSOs, and announced its decision to extend all its available resources for realisation of the charter of demands.
In a release issued on Monday, FDA's R Gaibi stated that it has also decided to affiliate to the newly established JAC on the TRI, Manipur as one of the members.
In addition, FDA, with or without the existing JAC, would go to all lengths to reveal any flaws, non-compliance of the orders of Administrative Department (TA&Hills), in respect of the incumbent joint director, inconsistencies, misuses of finances, etc., of the Institute and would uphold justice at all costs, it said.
FDA claimed to information that one unscrupulous officer is simply working for his own vested interest, undermining the Institute's core objective.
Hence, it warned the officers) making a mockery of this institution that he/she will be definitely prosecuted in accordance with the law of the land for working against the larger interest of the tribal community of Manipur.
The Association urged the government, led by chief minister N Biren to look into the situation and bring justice , failing which it will be forced to participate in various democratic protests and agitations, if the stated demands are not honoured by August 9 as per the deadline set by the JAC.
FDA further appealed to the various CSOs operating in the state to join hands for strengthening TRI, Manipur.
