Imphal, July 02 2021:
The 6th FEGOCTA agitations of boycotting of online classes in the Government Colleges of Manipur including those under Dhanamajuri University entered second day today.
In a statement, FEGOCTA said that the agitations began after getting no response and the failure of Orders of National Policy of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 by the Government as per the set deadline.
It may be mentioned that on June 21, FEGOCTA submitted a letter requesting the Education Minister, Chief Secretary etc to honour the MOU of March 6, 2021 and issue the necessary orders by June 30 .
The teacher's body continued that the restoration of online classes and examinations in the Government colleges in Manipur is now at the hands of the Higher Education Department led by the Education Minister as necessary steps by other departments including Finance Dept have already been completed.
The 7th pay was granted to other employees of the Manipur Government in 2019 before Covid-19 but the Govt College teachers have been singled out and discriminated against in the implementation of National policies, added the statement.
'What happened to the Prime Minister of India's Mission of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas to the College Teachers in Manipur?' asked FEGOCTA and asserted that any further delay or failure to implement national policy of UGC in Manipur will not be accepted.
