AMWJU, EGM flay slack probe, rowdyism

All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) and Advisory Committee AMWJU have strongly condemned the barbaric act of burning copy of Imphal Free Press daily over an article written by columnist RK Nimai, near his residence on Friday morning.
According to a joint statement released by EGM president Khogendra Khomdram and AMWJU acting president Soubam Bokuljaoba, a meeting of the three scribes' bodies was convened at Manipur Press Club on Friday afternoon wherein various resolutions were adopted.
The resolutions included initiation of strict legal action against the involved people by the authority concerned within a week's time; launch of further agitation if no action is taken after a week; as the media is not biased on Kanglasha issue, all concerned are appealed not to attempt to interfere or gagged the media; and lastly, the Union denounced the delay in resolving the grenade attack case at the office of Poknapham and its sister publication, The People's Chronicle till date.
The union further demanded immediate arrests of all involved in the case.
