Imphal, July 02 2021:
The 6th phase of agitation of Federation of Government Colleges Teachers Association (FEGOCTA) entered second day on Friday.
In a release, FEGOCTA media convenor said the agitation of boycotting conduct of online classes and examination had to be pursued as their demand for implementation of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations 2018 has not evoke any positive response from the government.
It recounted that the Federation had served deadline of June 30 to issue relevant orders for implementation of the national policy of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 but the government continued to neglect the same.
The convener asserted that resumption of online classes and examination in the government colleges is now at the hands of the Higher Education department.
"We are not against any authority and the students' interests.
The agitation is an emotional outburst of the college teachers against discrimination, repeated betrayals and unacceptable delays by the government since 2018," added the release.
It also pointed that the 7th pay commission scale has already been granted to other employees of state government in 2019 before Covid-19.The college teachers in other states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Tripura have been enjoying the 7th UGC Pay since 2018, it said.
