Imphal, July 02 2021:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) is planning to field candidates in all assembly constituencies in the forthcoming state assembly election, which is due early next year.
Addressing the media in this regard at the party's office here on Friday, MPP president L Krishnadas said that regional political parties are in power in different states and it is time the people of Manipur have their trust on the state's own regional party, MPP.
The party is also hoping for a return to power and it would be fighting the forthcoming assembly election from all ACs.
The MPP government in the short period of two and half years took up several development works in the state such as establishment of Manipur University, RIMS, BSEM and agricultural college among others, he said.
On the other hand, A Bele and Dr Ningthouuam Priyananda, who are gearing up to fight the assembly election from Andro and Sekmai assembly constituencies respectively, were accorded warm welcome upon joining MPP at the party office.
A Bele said that he completed master's degree in organic agriculture in The Netherlands under fellowship programme of the ministry of social justice and empowerment.
Now he is gearing up to fight the election from Andro AC after tendering resignation from his post under the ministry of agriculture.
He joined MPP with the objective of making Manipur a self-sufficient state in terms of food production.
Dr N Priyananda said that he has MBA degree from Gauhati University and PhD from Pondicherry University.
He joined MPP considering the transparency and commitment of the party and he believes in regionalism and development.
On the other hand, the BJP government has made the state a safe haven for corrupt people, he alleged.
