BL Santosh meets ruling MLAs on poll strategies

Imphal, July 02 2021:
BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, who is in Imphal on a two-day visit, met each of the ruling MLA separately and BJP MPs at Hotel Classic Grande, where he is staying, on Friday.
Though there is no official report on what actually transpired during these meetings, a highly placed source said that the BJP leader took opinions, complaints and suggestions from the MLAs and MPs as part of the poll strategy for the forthcoming state assembly election.
The meeting continued till late night and the MLAs of alliance partners were the last to meet.
Later, a joint meeting was held and discussed issues related with election and Covid-19 pandemic.
BL Santosh is leaving Imphal for the national capital on Saturday.
On the other hand, chief minister N Biren, who also met the party leader, told some media persons that his (BL Santosh) visit is a historic one and he learned several things related with the party organisation from him, which he believes will help in strengthening the party.
A joint meeting of party MLAs and MPs along with Sambit Patra and Ajay Jamwal was held on Friday and discussed the need for coordination and cooperation between the party and the government.
It also discussed the strategy to win majority in the forthcoming assembly election to form a BJP only government, he said.
Biren also expressed happiness over appointing A Sarda as the president of the party's state unit, and added that the appointment is a testimony of the party's stand towards women empowerment.
A Sarda, who was also there, appreciated the contributions of MLAs during the Covid-19 crisis.
She emphasised on the need for coordination between MLAs and party workers at the Mandal level for better implementation of flagship schemes.
