Handicraft products shipped to Kolkata

To promote handloom and handicraft products of the state ahead of the festive season, Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) has on Tuesday shipped a consignment of local handicraft products to its Panthoibi Emporium in Kolkata.
Interacting with media persons prior to shipping the products, MHHDCL chairman S Achouba said that the handicraft products were sorted as per demand in Kolkata subsequent to the release of e-catalogue and buy one get one offer that the emporium is giving in relation with Ningol Chakkouba festival.
Another consignment of handloom products of the state will also be sent in a week's time, he revealed, while thanking the local artisans, weavers and staff members of the Corporation for their contribution in promoting the local products.
Through the e-catalogue, one can order the products of their choice online and they will be delivered at home, he said and stressed the need for maintaining quality so that the products could the earn trust of people far and wide and gain popularity.
The consignment includes 17 handicraft items which are in high demand in Kolkata.
Proposal for the same from Panthoibi Emporium in Delhi will also be addressed within a week, he added.
Panthoibi Emporium in-charge (MD) E Jiten said that the products are being sold at 70 per cent discount.
They were procured from the artisans, who could not sell their products during the Covid-19 pandemic and the discount is provided as per instructions from the ministry of textiles, he added.
