Legal awareness programme, rally held

As a part of the National Legal Services Authority's Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the District Legal Services Authority, Chandel under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority organised a rally at Tengnoupal on Wednesday.
The rally was flagged off from Moreh Court Complex by Arshad Saeed Shah, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Moreh, said a release.
Panel lawyers, PLVs, youths of local clubs and public spirited individuals took part in the programme.
The rally covered several villages in Tengnoupal and finally concluded at Hong Kong Bazar, Moreh.
Pamphlets were distributed at strategic areas of the District as a part of the rally to raise awareness on free legal aid and services.
On completion of the rally, a legal awareness programme on the topic "Tribal Welfare Schemes" was also conducted at Moreh Court Complex.

The programme was attended by Arshad Saeed Shah, village and community leaders, panel advocates and PLVs of DLSA Chandel.
Speaking on the occasion as the resource person, Tolen Potshangbam, Advocate stressed on the various Government schemes meant for tribal population.
He also highlighted the procedures for availing the schemes and asked the participants to approach the legal services authority if they encounter any difficulties.
As part of the campaign, a One Day Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Press Media and Legal Services: The role of media in disseminating of Legal Services" was also organised at Thani Memorial School, Chandel.
It was participated by students from various schools of Chandel and Tengnoupal district.
Similarly, as a part of the Pan India Awareness & Outreach campaign, District Legal Services Authority, Senapati on Wednesday organised a legal awareness programme in collaboration with Kangpokpi District Police at the Conference Hall of SP Office, Kangpokpi in the presence of Karthik Malladi, SP Kangpokpi, IPS.
The programme began with a welcome address by Ashem Tarunakumari Devi, secretary DLSA Senapati.
During the programme, Koshia Mao, Additional PP to District & Session Court, Senapati delivered a speech on 'Arrest & Detention, with special emphasis on Arnesh Kumar vs State of Bihar" and Samom Ibjen, chairman DLSA Senapati spoke on 'Legal Services Institutions & its functions".
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Thangkhochon Haokip (MPS), Additional SP Kangpokpi.
It was attended by police officers of Kangpokpi district.
Moreover, DLSA Senapati also conducted another legal awareness programme at Motbung Youth Club Hall, Motbung.
At the event, Ashem Tarunakumari Devi spoke on 'Legal Rights of women' while Samom Ibjen spoke on 'Legal Services Institutions & its functions, and Door to Door campaign' .
