Ex-servicemen meet; solar lights distributed

Modi Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted ex-servicemen welfare meet at Modi Garrison to celebrate the nationwide event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on Saturday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the participants availed themselves with CSD facility and medical assistance, which was made available especially for them during the event.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic attendance of approximately 50 ex-servicemen from Chandel district, who displayed an overwhelming response and expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the government and the Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, as part of Assam Rifles' Civic Action Programme initiative, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) distributed solar lights to the villagers of Chelep and Waksu villages in Tengnoupal district to provide an alternate medium of power source to lit-up the area and enhance security during hours of darkness in the region.
According to PRO IGAR (S), as solar power is a clean energy, pollution-free and renewable source of power supply was decided for execution of the project after due deliberation and discussion with the locals and keeping in mind the requirement of the villagers in border areas.
The villagers of the two villages expressed their gratitude and happiness for the useful initiative of Assam Rifles, said the PRO.
