BJP calls for ending post-poll violence in Jiribam

Expressing deep concern over violent incidents and escalation of tension days after declaration of results of the assembly elections, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda Meetei has appealed to people to exercise maximum restraint and cease all political hostilities.
Addressing media persons at Hotel Jayraj located at Kalinagar, here on Sunday, Premananda said that BJP condemns the attack carried out by suspected JDU supporters on family members of BJP Imphal West Minority Morcha vice president Sadam of Lalpani, Jiribam after declaration of election results.
Such attack carried out to avenge working for the BJP after the end of election process was very unfortunate and BJP shares the suffering of Sadam's family members who were hospitalised after suffering injuries in the attack.
The state BJP leader thanked Jiribam district administration for taking prompt and necessary action to prevent large scale post-poll violence from occur ring in Jiribam.
He said that imposition of curfew under CrPC 144 in Jiribam by the district administration was justified and thanked district police for maintaining strict vigil to prevent violence.
According to P Premananda, a BJP team visited Sadam's family and other party workers of the area injured in the attack and appealed to them to remain calm and forget the past incidents.
The same appeal was also made by BJP leaders of Jiribam including party's unsuccessful candidate N Budhachandra.
He also expressed strong disapproval of the protest launched by womenfolk near the residence of BJP general secretary K Saratkumar on Saturday and maintained that Saratkumar contributed to the party at his best level as per instruction of the party.
The press conference was also attended by BJP Imphal West district president Ph Phoni Meetei, BJP Jiribam Mandal president in-charge Kh Haridas and BJP Jiribam Mandal general secretary A Dorendro Meetei.
