No disrespect for local leaders: Rakesh Naorem

Poll violence victim Rakesh Naorem has said that he has no disrespect for local pradhan, member and clubs and Meira Paibi but made some irresponsible statements against them due to extreme disappointment.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here Sunday, the social and cultural activist said that the incident which occurred on March 4 evening was outrageous and he was disappointed when local leaders including Meira Paibi, pradhan, members and clubs did not speak a word about the incident even though his house was torched and reduced to ashes merely for supporting BJP.
"This compelled me to raise the questions to local leaders and there is no disrespect for them," Rakesh said, adding that he was disappointed when former minister Dr Nara did not speak a word about the incident though the latter's residence is opposite to his.
Rakesh further said that he understands the ultimatum set by Tentha Khongbal Club for clarification within March 14 .
However, now is not the right time for meeting local leaders as he is currently taking refuge in a neighbouring village and will not visit Tentha Khongbal on Monday, he added.
Meanwhile, Like Minded Group (LMG) Manipur on Sunday provided monetary aid of Rs 78,000 to its founder and publicity secretary Rakesh Naorem and his elder brother of Tentha Khongbal under Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency whose houses were burned down on March 4 .
A team of the group led by its president L Kunjesh-wor Sharma and comprising secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam, assistant secretaries Ran-ibala Ningombam, Rosan Moirangtnem, executive members Bihari Waikhom, Dr Eteen Maibam, Salam Bhajani, Sobita Maibam, Manihar Sapam, Surjit Ngangom, Ibochouba Takhelam-bam, Rameshwor Elangbam and Boinao Maibam visited Rakesh to hand over the aid.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, LMG secretary S Ojit informed that the assistance was the 43rd such humanitarian gesture of the Group.
While terming as regrettable that houses have been burned and people killed during the poll violence, the secretary stressed that victims of such violence ought to be helped.
