15th IASR national conference begins

The 15th IASR national conference organised by Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Regional Campus, Manipur along with Dhanamanjuri University and Indian Association for the Study of Religion (IASR) under the sponsorship of Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, commenced from Tuesday at Dhanamanjuri University, here.
The inaugural function of the two-day conference was attended by DMU VC Prof N Rajmuhon, IGNTU, Amarkantak vice chancellor Prakash Mani Tripathi, Manipur University VC Prof N Lokendro Singh, Manipur University of Culture VC Prof Paonam Gunindro Singh and South & South East Asian Association for the Study of Culture & Religion president Prof Amarjiva Lochan as presidium members.
Speaking at the function, Prof Rajmuhon informed that the importance of indigenous people, their knowledge, culture and religion was highlighted in 'International Decade for the World's Indigenous and Ethnic People' .
As India, particularly the North-East is culturally and ethnically diverse, the lectures to be delivered by the research scholars and experts during the conference will surely help in better understanding the issue by the people, he expressed.
