HAC chief calls for promoting tradition, identity

Hill Areas Committee chairman and Nungba MLA Dinganglung (Dipu) Gangmei inaugurated a newly constructed Tingkao Ragwang Kalum Kai (House of worship of Tingkao Ragwang) at Ragailong, Imphal along with performing religious rituals on Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, MLA Dinganglung observed that the future generations will not be able to know the culture, tradition and identity of their communities if the present generation do not uphold and promote the culture, tradition and identity of their respective communities.
As such enriching culture and tradition is a responsibility for all human beings so that the future generation would not be left behind as an abandoned community without any historical and cultural traces, he said.
Reflecting on the initiatives taken up by the BJP government, the MLA said that today every Indian has great sense of nationalism under the leadership of PM Modi.
In order to glorify the diversity of the country, each and every community should promote own culture and tradition, he said and called upon the people of Rongmei or Zeliangrong community to feel proud of their culture.
Dipu also urged the elders of the community to pass down the history, identity and heritage to the younger generations and prayed that the spirit of Tingkao Rad-wang bless the village with abundance and prosperity.
Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, who was present at the event as guest of honour, called for supporting one another in order to bring social harmony, peace and development.
One should give up the idea of raising arguments on every matter, and learn to appreciate initiatives that are good for the society, he said, while urging for unity and coordination among the communities.
Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom (TRCP) Assam, Manipur and Nagaland permanent invitee Kadum Kamson presided over the event while TRCP Ragailong president Longmei Poucharei, ex-MLA O Henry; ABV Kalyan Ashram India vice-president Ma Satyendra, Ragailong Pei Nampou Golthangmei Kakhangai and Ragailong Pei Namngakpou Kamei Gaingamlung Kabui were the guests of honour.
