The father of the 21 year old excavator operator who was found dead near Soraphung Junction in Ukhrul district on November 6 last has claimed that his son was murdered.
Reportedly, the deceased Yarngam Haorei, s/o Ngasomi Haorei of Chingai Village, Ukhrul was found hanging in a tree in a forested area some 1.5 km away from Soraphung Junction under Jessami police station in Ukhrul district.
The family members, however, claimed that Yarngam was hung after murdering to depict it as a case of suicide.
Speaking to media persons at JNIMS mortuary today, Ngasomi Haorei stated that his son worked as an excavator operator at a stone crushing unit set up by one Mingthing Horam from New Tusom at Jessami.
Saying that his son along with two other workers left the stone crushing unit last Saturday as the owner wanted them to take rest on Sunday in a tipper truck, Ngasomi continued that the two other persons were driver Ranjit Chaula (47) from Assam currently staying at New Tusom and his helper Yepe (27) from Jessami.
He narrated that one of the tyres of the truck got punctured near Soraphung Junction while heading towards New Tusom.
Claiming that the driver and his helper directed Yarngam to repair the tyre, he alleged that his son was beaten for not obeying them.
"All this came to light after my son informed his mother Masophy Haorei about the incident in a telephonic conversation," he added.
Saying that the phone of his son went off after he contacted his mother, Ngasomi maintained his son was found hanging the next day (November 6) in a very suspicious manner at the isolated place.
He went to claim that his son might have been murdered by Ranjit and Yepe and hung from the tree to depict it as a case of suicide.
Saying that Ranjit and Yepe currently are in police custody, he urged the authorities concerned to investigate the case properly and reward befitting punishment to the murderer(s).
It is reported that the autopsy of the mortal remains was conducted at JNIMS today but the family has resolved to not claim the body until the culprit(s) is/are booked.
