Imphal, November 08 2022:
Demanding fulfilment of the eight demands made by All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association's (AMHSDA), doctors under the Association staged a sit-in protest at the complex of Indian Medical Council (IMA), Lamphelpat, here, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the sidelines, AMHSDA general secretary Dr Loli P Mao informed that staff members working under the Medical Department are denied time bound promotion, thereby making them face huge inconveniences.
Thus, he urged for time bound promotion of medical department staff, including promotion for Health Services doctors who have been denied of the same for the last 15-20 years.
Moreover, despite PM Narendra Modi announcing the superannuation age of doctors to be 65 on May 22, 2016, the same has been implemented in only some parts of Manipur.
Furthermore, the 7th CPC came into effect in Manipur from April, 2020 when other states had already implemented it in 2016.Instead Of a pay raise with 7th CPC, the doctors in Manipur are being paid less.
There is no post creation and victimisation of doctors who have been working for a long time, is increasing on daily basis, he alleged.
Urging for creation of a director general post and separation of Directorates of Public Health Services and Medical Education, the general secretary demanded fixation of NPA with retrospective effect from January 1, 2016 as per 7th CPC and strict adherence of Transfer and Posting Policy of Health Services 2017.He then appealed to the government to fulfil the demands at the earliest, and warned of launching intense agitations in case of failing to fulfil the demands.
