The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East on Tuesday remanded a 22 year old youth to police custody till November 9 on the charge of uploading hate speech on the Facebook post of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Accused Laishram Malemnganba (21) of Waiton Mamang Leikai was produced before the Court by a team of Heingang police.
The defense counsel also filed a remand objection.
The Investigating Officer (IO) of the case through APP submitted that the accused was arrested yesterday based on a complaint lodged by Manoharmayum Barish Sharma to Heingang Police Station.
As per the complainant, the accused wrote "4 Yonninglaga Yonni, Chaninglaga Chani, Nawa Loudea Sanyung Thakpa BJP Party" in the post uploaded by the Chief Minister.
The complainant also claimed that the comment depicted BJP in a wrong light and it hurt the sentiments of the party's functionaries.
The accused reportedly admitted to the charges levelled against him.
The IO of the case sought police custody remand of the accused to collect evidence.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the Investigating Officer (IO) and defense counsel remanded the accused to two days police custody till November 9 .
