RIMS observes World Plastic Surgery day

"World Plastic Surgery Day" was observed on Friday at the OPD complex, RIMS Hospital here with Keishamthong MLA Sapam Nishikant Singh, RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh, Rotary Club of Imphal president Pramod Jaiswal, RIMS medical superintendent Prof Nepram Sanjib Singh as the presidium members.
In his address, MLA Nishikant said that he was impressed With the existence of Plastic Surgery Department in RIMS Hospital and applauded the many changes and improvement RIMS has made over the years.
While appreciating doctors and staff of RIMS for their dedicated service, he said that being a member of Rotary Club of Imphal, he's ready to serve the needy and people who suffer from burn injuries.
The MLA also donated a sum of Rs 15,000 to the Plastic Surgery Department.
Speaking on the occasion, director A Santa explained that RIMS cares for all burn and accident patients while recounting that a reconstructive thumb transplant surgery was done on a child from Ukhrul district which took six hours to complete.
A newly constructed building for burns is also ready for inauguration within a short period of time, he declared while informing that a new course M Ch in Plastic Surgery has been launched in RIMS.
The director also commended the Plastic Surgery Department for rendering invaluable service for the last decade.
On the other-hand, medical superintendent Nepram Sanjib said that various infrastructure development projects are being executed in RIMS under the leadership of its director.
He said that Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned for procurement of Liposuction Machines and other Micro instruments which will provide Liposuction and Laser facilities for benefits of patients.
He also announced that RIMS Hospital has started giving online report collection facilities to help patients settling in outlying areas.
RIMS is gradually moving towards development, he added.
