None from state in NIRF's top 200 colleges

None of the colleges in the state have been able to get featured in the top 200 colleges of the country while Manipur University is placed at 178th position as the seventh edition of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was released on Friday.
The NIRF India Rankings 2022 has been announced in 11 categories - Overall, University, Management, College, Pharmacy, Medical, Engineering, Architecture, ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), Law and Research Institutions.
The ranking parameters are teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity and perception.
IIT Madras, IISc Bengaluru and IIT Bombay are declared as top three institutions respectively in the overall category.
Gauhati University (64), NIT Silchar (76) and Tezpur University (90) from the northeast featured in the top 100 institutions while Mizoram University (129), NEHU (136), Assam University (151), Dibugarh University (163) and MU (178) are in the top 200 list.
According to the NIRF Ranking 2022, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru is the top Indian university followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) .
Manipur University ranks 131 in this category.
In the top college category, Miranda House Delhi, Hindu College Delhi and Presidency College were declared as the top three respectively.
Pachunga University College (45) of Mizoram is the only college from the northeast region, which got featured in the top 50 list of the category.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Educa tion and Research, Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore secured the top three positions respectively in the category of top medical institutions.
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal has highest rank among the medical institutions in the northeast region by securing 46th place.
In the engineering college category, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay secured the top three positions respectively.
IIT Guwahati (7), NIT Silchar (38), NIT Meghalaya (60) and NIT Agartala (80) are the engineering colleges from northeast which got featured in the top 100 list.
A total of 7254 higher educational institutes from across India have participated in the NIRF 2022, a rise from 6272 last year.
The number of unique applicants to India Rankings has increased from 2,426 in 2016 to 4,030 in 2021 whereas the total number of applications for rankings in various categories has increased from 3,565 in 2016, to 6,272 in 2021 .
