Imphal, May 12 2013:
Alleging that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is directly involved in different scams, BJP has demanded resignation of Dr Manmohan Singh.
Speaking to reporters at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur State unit president Th Chaoba said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh allotted 142 coal blocks to private enterprises in illegal manner between 2004-2009 when he was in charge of the portfolio.
In connection with this scam, the Supreme Court sacked Law Minister Ashwani Kumar for manipulating CBI's status report in cahoot with PMO Joint Secretary Satrughan Sinha and Coal Ministry Joint Secretary AK Bhallo.
By using the Law Minister and the Joint Secretary of his own office, the Prime Minister only exposed his guilt, Chaoba asserted.
2G Spectrum case, the biggest scandal of recent times was result of then Telecom Minister of giving allotments freely with full knowledge of Dr Manmohan Singh.
That was why he stayed away from the Joint Parliamentary Committee which was set up specifically to probe into 2G Scam.
When the then Telecom Minister expressed his desire to say something to the JPC, the Prime Minister denied him permission to speak thereby indicating that Dr Manmohan Singh is not innocent.
The Prime Minister was involved in Railgate scam, Adarsh Housing scam, helicopter deal, land privatization deal and ANTRIX-DEVAS scam.
Thousands of crores have been swindled in these scams thereby retarding the economic growth and development of the country, Chaoba asserted.
For all these reasons, Dr Manmohan Singh should resign from the post of Prime Minister, he demanded.
Speaking in the context of Manipur, Th Chaoba stated that the people of Manipur elected 42 Congress MLAs to work for the welfare of the nation, not to engage in contract works or graft practices for amassing personal wealth.
The order of supplying goods to GAD was issued by skipping due tender process.
Whereas roads are in shabby conditions, people are not getting electricity as well as potable water.
In the hill districts, there is no governance at all, Chaoba alleged.
