The Sadar Hills branch of Mary Kom School of Boxing (MKSB) has been officially inaugurated today at Chaljang, near Motbung with chairman of ADC, Kangpokpi Haokholal Hangshing and CEO (ADC/Kpi) Choungpu Kipgen gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
Mary kom Regional Boxing Foundation director Onler Kom and Manipur Amateur Boxing Association secretary Khoibi Salam were the guests of honour.
The dream of providing a platform for blooming talents in amateur boxing was conceived during an informal discussion with Onler and Mary Kom, recalled MKSB advisor cum founder Chunglenmang Kipgen, a government servant by profession, during his keynote address.
Highlighting that grooming young talents into sports such as boxing can also discourage the youngsters from indulging in harmful habits such as alcoholism, drug abuse, etc, Chunglenmang noted that achievements and laurels of Mary Kom was not an easy task but achieved through hard labour, resilience, determination and right attitude.

Exuding confidence that the feats of Mary Kom will motivate the 72 trainee boxers at MKSB to toil hard and become like her one day, he stated that trainee boxers of the School who are in the age group 10-18 years would be provided training under scheduled time table every morning and evening.
One of the objectives of MKSB is to identify, select and train prospective talents to face competitions at state, national and international levels in the future, maintained the advisor while conveying to all concerned MKSB would heartily welcome contributions from willing donors and well wishers.
An MOU was also signed between MKSB represented by Chunglenmang, Lengminlun (president) and Satminthang (secretary) and MKRBF represented by MC Mary Kom and Onler Kom.
A representation for affiliation of MKSB under Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) was also submitted to Khoibi Salam on the occasion.
Leaflets, brochures as well as 'Pledge Cards' for willing donors were also circulated during the function to support the cause while H Hangshing and Choungpu Kipgen generously contributed in cash and through Pledge Cards for all round betterment of the school.
In his brief address, Hangshing encouraged the youths to utilize the opportunity of the School in Sadar Hills while Khoibi Salam shared his vast experience to encourage the trainee boxers.
The inaugural function concluded with exhibition bouts featuring MKRBF boxers.
