Imphal, May 12 2013:
Chief Minister O Ibobi's promise made on the day he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Manipur for the third consecutive term to provide electricity for 20 hours in a day remains unfulfilled.
At the same time, the incumbent Government is unable to provide PDS items at the subsidised rates, stated Trinamool Congress State unit president Kim Gangte.
Talking with some media persons today, ex-MP Kim Gangte went on to question for how long the Government would continue deceiving the people.
Poor people who constitute majority of the population are now suffering untold misery because of the multiple hike in the prices of essential commodities.
With people contributing money for repairing electric transformers in case they break down, payment of electricity bills has been rendered meaningless as there is no electric supply.
MPCC president and Congress Ministers have been deluding the public by projecting abstract visions at their political workers conferences.
Saying that the Government has failed miserably on the law and order front, the ex-MP observed that the Government never once succeeded in delivering justice by way of punishing criminals according to law even though there have been numerous cases of rape, murder and other criminal activities.
At the same, the relevant Minister does not have courage to accept moral responsibility and resign from his post for such dismal performance.
Huge amounts were bargained at the time of recruitment of police Constables.
People have been talking openly that the price for the post of a police Constable has reached Rs 3/4 lakhs.
Such rampant graft practices have denied youngsters any opportunity to show their talents, Kim Gangte asserted.
The incumbent Government may be enjoying stability but it scores zero in terms of accountability.
Bureaucrat officers rather than working for the welfare of public have been playing sycophancy only to please Ministers.
Talking about health care, Kim Gangte said that modern medical equipment installed at RIMS are not used properly.
Impoverished people who came to RIMS for medical diagnosis and treatment are sent to private hospitals which only multiplied their woes.
Though RIMS is functioning under Central Government, the State Government is staying away from it what can do in terms of streamlining the functions of RIMS.
The Government is also equally blind to the pathetic condition of health care system in the remote areas of hill districts, she added.
