Imphal, October 01 2020: Displaying love and affection towards older persons, the 'International Day for Older Persons 2020' was observed by many in different part of the State by presenting gifts, mementoes, food and other items to them.

Imphal
The Thangmeiband Senior Citizens Forum (TSCF) organised a function for senior citizens on "International Day of Older Persons" at Soubam Lairembi Community Hall, Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, today.

The event was graced by M Jane as chief guest, L Kalapishak as president and P Chaoba as guest of honour.

The keynote address was delivered by the secy of TSCF, Y Ibotombi.

The District Social Welfare Officer N Binod Singh visited Old age home atNew Mata and gave a blanket each to the 30 elderly women inmates of Themnu Aged Care Home run by Social Human Action for Rural Empowerment (SHARE) .

He also gave several quantities of hand sanitizer, masks, rice, dal and cooking oil to the management of SHARE for the inmates.

Kakching
The day was also observed in Kakching district at the HFAO Senior Citizen Home in Arong Khunou, today.

The 'International Day for Older Persons 2020' programme jointly organized by the District Social Welfare Office Kakching with the Health For All Organisation (HFOA) was attended by District Social Welfare Officer Kakching A Kameshwor Singh, HFAO secy H Premkumar Singh and Arong Khunou OC Th Damu Singh as presidium members.

Mementoes and tokens of appreciation were presented to the senior citizens lodged there.

Moirang
A programme organized by the District Social Welfare Officer Bishnupur on the event of "International Day of Older Persons" was held in Bishnupur district, by visiting the old age home in Ngaikhong Khullen Mayai Leikai, Naraseina Old Age Home and Senior Citizen Old Age Home in Kumbi Terakhong Lamlong.

The inmates of these homes were presented with clothing items and food materials including rice and others.

Social Welfare Office, Bishnupur, Nongmeikapam Jotish Singh, Wanhjing Women and Girl Society founder L Premananda along with district staff and others attended the programme.

Thoubal
In connection to "International Day of Older Persons", Health Supervisor of Lilong PHC, Wairokpam Hemabati Devi of Chajing Mairebam presented the inmates of old aged home in Wangbal, Thoubal district run by IRDO.

Presenting face masks and shawls to the 25 inmates, Hemabati expressed that the gesture extended by her on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons which is celebrated annually on October 1, is to show affection towards the senior citizens lodged there who have no one else, and hopes that the small token will benefit them in some way.
