Jiribam: Vehicular movements affected as outsourced staff cease screening work

Six outsourced staff stationed near Jiribam Babupara for screening people entering the State launched a 10-day cease work strike today, claiming non-payment of honorarium.
It is reported that vehicular movement along Imphal-Jiribam Highway was affected for a brief period as the screening booth was locked by the irate staff.
Movement of goods vehicles resumed after the intervention of CMO, Jiribam.
COVID screening work was continued by the staff of the Health Department and Jiribam police.
However, people coming from Assam in private and passenger vehicles and Jiribam police quarrelled for a brief moment as their movements were restricted.
The incensed people were pacified after the screening booth was unlocked on the advice of CMO.
