Najma leads in extending Gandhi Jayanti wishes

Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has extended her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, which is observed as National Cleanliness Day every year.
Dr Najma said that Mahatma Gandhi led the Nation in its struggle for freedom from the British using non-violence (Ahimsa) as his most powerful weapon.
As a real "Karmayogi" and apostle of truth and non-violence, he firmly stood for the cause of the downtrodden and oppressed people not only in India but also in other parts of the world, the Governor continued.
She urged all to imbibe the virtue of non-violence, tolerance and humanism to usher in a new era of hope and prosperity.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also wished the people of the State on the occasion.
"Let us not forget Gandhi's thoughts and actions in facing and addressing challenges that confront us," he urged.
While wishing the people, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker, Y Khemchand Singh also stated that people in India and abroad are still inspired by Gandhi's non-violence movement, which raised him to Godliness.
The Speaker appealed to all to observe cleanliness in both the physical and spiritual realm.
Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh too greeted the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
In his message, the Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi was a pioneer of truth who started the Satyagraha movement for India's freedom.
On this occasion, let us pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence and dedicate ourselves towards promoting goodwill, tolerance and harmony, he added.
Social Welfare Minister Okram Henry also wished the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Maintaining that Mahatma Gandhi is considered as a symbol of peace, non-violence and Ahimsa, Henry urged all to pay rich tribute to the Father of the Nation and imbibe his wisdom and thoughts.
