Workshop on poll expenditure

The Election Commission of India would be organising a workshop on effective monitoring of poll related expenditures ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections of which the exact schedules are likely to be announced in the first week of December.
A reliable source informed that the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections which have been tentatively scheduled between January last week and February first week next year might be held in two phases.
In connection with these ensuing elections, the Election Commission of India would organise a workshop for States going to polls together with Manipur on monitoring election-related expenditures on October 31 at New Delhi.
The workshop would be attended by the State Joint CEO and officials of Excise, Income Tax and Police.
The workshop would deliberate on the law and order situation of the respective States as well as on monitoring poll-related expenditures.
The Chief Electoral Officer has also given the Election Commission of India exact figures of paramilitary forces that would required for the Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
Earlier, one candidate of the by-elections to Yaiskul AC could not give statements of his election-related expenditures within the stipulated period.
Subsequently, the particular candidate was banned from contesting elections for the next three years.
