Ithoi Bridge foundation stone laid

The foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of Ithoi Bridge under Saikul sub-division was held today at Lhunkhosat Memorial English High School ground with Works Minister K Ranjit as the chief guest.
The event was also graced by Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly and Khundrakpam AC MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh as the functional president in the presence of MLAs DD Thaisii and Doukhomang Khongsai as the guests of honour.
Former Minister C Doungel and Saikul SDO/BDO L Nandakumar Singh also attended the programme as special guests.
While dignitaries present at the occasion welcomed the State Government's initiative to construct the bridge which on completion would connect Assembly constituencies of Saikul, Khundrakpam and Karong, the Works Minister in his speech cautioned that punitive actions would be initiated against officials concerned in case quality control is not maintained.
Informing that tender for the Rs 4.50 crore bridge construction would be floated in the latter part of March, K Ranjit also announced that plans are afoot for development of the 9 kilometre long Saikul to Molkon road under the Special Plan Assistance.
He also assured that improvement of health care facilities in Saikul and Khundrakpam would be taken up on priority basis, besides provision of all possible assistance for construction of Molkon Market shed.
