MPP demands on Public Distribution System

Imphal, March 05 2011:
While expressing concern over the present situation of Public Distribution System in the state, the Manipur People's Party (MPP) has demanded to remove the nominees of MLA and super agents who are holding the responsibility for successfully distribution of PDS items to the public of the state.
In a press release, MPP claimed that the union government has been providing regularly state's share of PDS items like rice, sugar, flour, mustard oil, kerosene and other items for the people of the state.
The state government also takes the PDS items from the central government regularly.
Unfortunately, almost every people of the state are not getting the PDS items regularly since the past few years, it alleged.
It alleged that some agents even told the public that it is good for them to get the items once in a while.
Many agents and super agents are trying to forfeit the public properties in association with high ranking officials and even political leaders.
Calling for an immediate intervention to the matter, the MPP demanded the state government to substitute such corrupt agents and regulate proper distribution of the PDS items.
