'Arrested' Rashid clarifies

Makakmayum Kumar Rashid of Lilong Haoreibi Leihaomakhong, who was allegedly arrested by a combined team of 42 AR posted at Pallel and police commandos and released later, has clarified that his arrest was instigated by some persons with a political bias.
Speaking in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today, Kumar Rashid stated that he was picked up by a combined team of 42 AR and police commandos around 12.30 am on March 4 from his home.
He was taken to the AR post at Pallel and they tortured him by keeping him blindfolded and poured water over him.
They alleged him of giving ' 2 lakh to the elected candidate of Lilong Nagar Panchayat Ward No.3, Noorjahan in the election and asked him of the source of the money.
They further alleged him of using a gun in the election and asked to produce the gun and also queried if he worked for any faction of PULF.
They also threatened to kill him.
Later he was released on the evening of March 4 stating that he was innocent.
He said that Liyakat of INC was defeated by Noorjahan in the recent Nagar Panchayat Election.
He said he was picked up based on reports fabricated by some persons.
He said, two mobile phones including his younger brother's were taken by the SF.
Lilong Leihaomakhong Welfare Club and Leihaomakhong Women Welfare Association warned of stern public actions if such incidents happen again in the future.
