'Officials working for error free census report'

Brushing aside all odds before them, officials and staff are working hard to compile an accurate population figure for the state in the ongoing census exercise, according to an official of the Census Operation Manipur.
Officials and staffs of the state census operation have been extending all help to the enumerators deputed for the head count in both the hills and the valley areas.
They have assisted supervisors and enumerators in Jiribam, Ukhrul and other hill areas, said Oinam Jugindro, senior technical assistant of the Census Operation Manipur.
After the second round conducted from February 1 to 28, the census revision, conducted from March 1 to 5, had also been completed, the officer said asserting that needed rectifications in the head count exercise is being examined.
Dr Manimohon, sr demographer of the directorate of census operation said that they are currently checking minorities and religious based information so as to avoid insertion of any wrong information the final figure.
5664 enumerators and 1021 supervisors were utilized in the census operation.
In the effort for an accurate population figure, these enumerators and supervisors along with DCs and SDOs of each district were imparted special training on census operation.
For the first time, National Population Register (NPR) is being introduced in the ongoing census along with a 29-point information including income, religion, education, access to basic utilities and other topics.
