L Suresh still missing: 24-hr general strike called on March 9

Imphal, March 05 2011:
A 24-hour statewide general strike has been called on March 9 by the JAC formed in connection with the missing of Longjam Suresh of Top Siphai Mayai Leikai.
The strike will be effective from 5 am of March 9 till 5 am of the next day.
The decision to impose the general strike was taken in a public meeting at Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar hosted by the JAC.
Representatives of various civil societies like UCM, PPOC, AMUCO, FIDAM, HRD, HNYTL etc.
attended the meeting and shared their concern of the whereabouts of Suresh who remains untraced till date.
Suresh was abducted along with another person of the same locality by suspected security personnel in combat dress coming in a Gypsy and a bullet proof vehicle on the night of February 18.The other person, Chabungbam Manglemba was released after two days but Suresh is still missing.
Suresh's family with the help of the JAC and civil organisations are running from pillar to post to press the government and police department to find Suresh.
Till date the family has no clues about his whereabouts.
Suresh's father Mangi expressed dissatisfaction with the government and the police, who, he alleged have given no positive responses.
Mangi, through the media, requested the Governor to intervene in the matter by instructing the government and the police department before things go out of hand.
He wanted the case of his missing son to be handed over to the CBI.
