National Integration Mela at Dima Hasao

The HQ 44 Mountain Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division organised a 'National Integration Mela' at the strife torn region of Dima Hasao (earlier known as North Cachar Hills) of South Assam on March 4 and 5.Inter school debate competition, football and archery tournaments, exhibition on Know Your Army, Talent Hunt in the field of song, dance and music bands, talks by prominent personalities of the region and a presentation by Army Recruiting Office, Silchar on opportunities in the army marked the two day event.
Debojit Saha of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma gave a musical presentation on the final day.
The event received overwhelming response and large numbers of enthusiastic participants turned up for preliminary rounds of competitions for talent hunt and sports.
School children participated in the debate competition on "Development should be solely dependent on government sponsored schemes or community based self help groups should also play a significant and meaningful role".
Children as well as locals evinced keen interest in the weapon and equipment display during Know Your Army Exhibition.
Presentation by recruitment organisation drew a huge response from young students.
The event was organised with an aim to strengthen the peace process by creating communal and ethnic harmony.
