Imphal, March 05 2011:
The JAC constituted against the involuntary disappearance of L Suresh has threatened to call a 48 hours general strike with effect from 5 am of March 9 till 5 am of March 10 in case Suresh is not freed by March 7 .
Longjam Suresh (31) s/o L Mangi of Top Siphai Mayai Leikai can not be traced till date after he was pulled up by suspected security personnel in combat dress from his home at about 11.30 pm of February 18 .
However, Chabungbam Manglem of the same locality who was pulled up by the same team of suspected security personnel on the same day was freed on February 20 .
Denouncing the silence of the Governor, the Chief Minister and the DGP despite repeated appeals of the people to ascertain the whereabouts of Suresh, a public meeting was held today at Thongkhong Lakshmi Bazar under the aegis of the JAC.
Notably, the meeting was attended by representatives of AMUCO, UCM, FIDAM, HRD, COHR and the Haoreibi Nupi Yaipha Thoushil Lup.
Speaking to media persons, Suresh's mother Longjam Chaobi said that his son used to stutter while speaking and at such moments he used to hit himself on the thigh and click his fingers.
Such gestures might be insulting to others but he was humble person.
Though he is 31 years old, he never put up a night in anybody's house even for once.
Saying that his son was taken away by army personnel, Chaobi said, "Non-local bearded security personnel dragged away Suresh from his bed.
I could not note the vehicle registration numbers because I'm illiterate", Chaobi regretted.
Suresh's father L Mangi urged that the case of his son's forced disappearance should be handed over to the CBI.
