Rajya Sabha MP and titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba has announced that Naharup Gram Panchayat in Kshetrigao AC, will be developed into an Aadarsh Gram' (Model Village) under the Saansad (Member of Parliament) Adarsh Gram Yojana.
On Monday, Sanajaoba unveiled a stone plaque for the same during the launch of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), during a function organised by Imphal East District Administration at the Shrine of Integrity Park, Wakha Leima Ching.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, the MP remarked that Kshetrigao AC is inhabited by different communities, with Naharup GP holding close ties with the Manipur's history and the royal palace.
He then said that to help the GP develop into a model or ideal village, concerted efforts and cooperation are required between the district administration, local MLA, relevant line departments and the people of the area.
Stating that he has stepped forward with the goal of serving the people, the MP appealed to the people to love and support him and also offer suggestions, if any, to him from time to time.
Sanajaoba further emphasised that the people in the area should responsible with regard to the project, so as to ensure its success.
Informing that SAGY programme was launched with the objective of developing the rural areas across the country, Kshetrigao AC MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan said that the GP covers Naharup Awang Leikai, Naharup Mayai Leikai, Leitembi, Khongjin, Pangong, Keikhu Kabui village and Wakha.
Although SAGY has no budget allocation, the funds for the same will be arranged from different central and state sponsored schemes, in addition to options like Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He continued that the main objective of SAGY is to sustain the social and human capital of rural areas, apart from renovation, repairing and setting up varied infrastructures.
As such, he urged all the communities in Naharup GP to cooperate and coordinate with each other so as to help in making the GP a model village, thereby bringing about a holistic development and an inclusive GP.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner Khumanthem Diana, the function was also attended by Imphal East adhyaksha P Bimola, up-adhyaksha Kshetri Tama and Naharup GP pradhan Petri Golmei.
As part of the function, a cultural programme and a friendly football match were also organised.
