Narrative Arts Festival ends, awards presented

A 10-day Narrative Arts (Wari Leeba) Festival-2022 organised by Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage (RCCH), Yairipok under the sponsorship of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi at its Yairipok Bamol Leikai auditorium concluded on Monday.
The valedictory ceremony also featured presentation of Guru Nungleppa Wari Leeba Ningshing Mana, 2022-and Guru Nabachandra Sharma Ningshing Mana, 2022.The function, which began with offering of floral tributes to the photos of deceased Wari Leeba artistes, was attended by MPCC president and Wangkhem MLA Keisham Meghachandra as chief guest, RCCH president Laikhuram Mani Singh as president and Art and Culture deputy director (programme) G Dharmadas Sharma as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Meghachandra praised RCCH for its contribution towards preserving the traditional art form of the state, especially integral part of Meetei's culture and traditions.
As part of the programme, the annual awards presented by RCCH to exceptional Wari Leeba artistes included cash prize, citation and shawl.
For this year, Guru Nungleppa Wari Leeba Ningshing Mana, 2022 was awarded to Laishram Jugindro Singh of Irom Meijrao and Guru Nabachandra Sharma Ningshing Mana 2022 to Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak.
A Wari Leeba session was also conducted by Soraisham Gunendro of Yairipok Bamol Leikai.
