Ibobi treasures Rishang Keishing's stand for state's unity

Former chief minister and Congress Legislature Party leader O Ibobi said that former chief minister Rishang Keishing stood for the unity of the state till his last breath.
Attending the Rishang Keishing Memorial Lecture organised by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee at Congress Bhawan, here on Sunday, Ibobi recalled that Rishang was honoured as the oldest parliamentarian of the country and he remained as chief minister and MP of Rajya Sabha for two terms each.
He was one of the rare politicians from the state and having a lecture on his life and works will not be enough.
As a chief minister, MP and politician, Rishang Keishing worked with commitment for the welfare and development of the state.
He stood for the unity and integrity of Manipur till his last breath.
Apart from being a politician, he was also a historian and intellectual, and his works will be a treasure for the future generation, Ibobi said.
MPCC interim president N Loken also spoke on the life and works of Rishang Keishing and said that the former CM brought him and MLA TN Haokip into Congress party.
Studying his works and following his paths would be one of the most important steps to strengthen the party and return to power, he opined and called upon the people to support Congress party for better administration.
Floral tributes were paid to the photo of the late politician.
His son Victor Keishing also distributed tree saplings to the participants.
