WCCM to focus on long term plans for wellbeing of society

The first offline general body meeting of We Can Change Manipur (WCCM) cum tree plantation in commemoration of World Folklore Day was held today at Thawai Hou (Art and Event Space) Heibongpokpi.
The event was sponsored by Meira Foods, Go Green Group, Arbin Tonjam and the Rosettes by Baby and the event was documented by Storyteller and 47 persons attended the event including renowned folk singer, Mangka Mayanglambam, said a press release by WCCM.
Addressing the gathering, secretary of WCCM, Binita Pukhrambam extended a warm welcome to everyone and thanked the sponsors for their support and said that the tree plantation has been done to preserve and protect the flora and fauna of the state.
Talking about WCCM, she said it provides a platform for the youth to contribute and also stressed on the importance of reading which forms the base of a good writer and in becoming a vigilant citizen.
Speaking on the occasion, founder chairman, Marjing Mayanglambam elaborated about the inception of WCCM and its objectives.
He stated that WCCM was formed on May 26, 2019 with co-founder Taniya Khangembam, Saka Mashangva and other members namely Jolly, Nirva, Meghabarna, with an aim to find the answer on how a youth can participate in parliament, politics and youth governance.
Because of Covid-19 and due to personal commitments, WCCM meet was discontinued but it came to life again on May 18, 2021 .
WCCM was interested only in youth politics initially but presently, focus is also given to promote and preserve literature, media, arts, artforms, he added.
He continued that the 13th edition of WCCM e - magazine was also released yesterday and said that WCCM aims to participate in social activism as a neutral platform to fight against discrimination, inequality and work against negative extremity in any fields and to conduct anti-social element eradication as a responsible youth.
He maintained that WCCM is focused on long term plan with various projects like river conservation, tree plantation etc.
Later an oath taking of the executive members of WCCM was held and saplings were planted.
